Back to work after baby: dressing for your return

The first morning back is about more than an outfit. A gentle, practical guide to a return-to-work wardrobe that fits your body and your new life.

Returning to work after maternity leave is its own kind of first day. Your body has changed, your mornings have changed, and the clothes that used to feel like armour may not fit — in any sense of the word.

Start with what fits now

Try on your work wardrobe a week or two before your return, not the night before. Keep what fits and feels good. Store the rest in a labelled box — it isn’t gone, it’s just resting.

Choose pieces that forgive

  • High-waisted trousers or a midi skirt with a touch of stretch — structure without pressure.
  • Tops with a front opening — buttons or a V-neck make feeding and pumping practical.
  • Breathable fabrics such as cotton and Tencel™ blends that stay fresh through long days.
  • Relaxed, not loose — a set that skims the body always looks more polished than something oversized.

Let a set do the thinking

A two-piece set removes the morning decision entirely. Our Grace Lace Set works with trousers for the office or a skirt for a softer day; the Executive Stripe Set is made for meetings.

Confidence on that first morning is not about looking like you did before. It is about looking like yourself, now.

Ask for help

If you’d rather not do this alone, our Postpartum Glow Up includes a back-to-work capsule — edited, fitted and ready before your first day.
